Fashion designer, couturier and author, B Michael was born and raised inConnecticut. He found early design inspirations in his mother’s creativity and grandmother’s keen sense of style and studied millinery at the New York Fashion Institute of Technology. After working under icons such as Oscar de la Renta, he decided to launch his namesake millinery line which was an enormous success. In 1999 B Michael developed and launched his first designer collection, under the priming of fashion industry icon, Eleanor Lambert. The collection was presented under the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week tents, to rave reviews. B Michael has continued to present collections twice yearly on the New York Fashion Week schedule for nearly twenty years.

B Michael’s collections have garnered appreciative fans and loyal clients, including, titans of industries, professionals, socialites, pop-culture personalities, and legends of film, theater and music, such as, Cicely Tyson, Valerie Simpson, Beyonce, Phylicia Rashad, Susan Fales- Hill, and the iconic greats, Nancy Wilson, and Lena Horne, among many others. B Michael also designed Whitney Houston’s costumes for the motion picture, Sparkle, and ballet costumes for the Joffrey Ballet’s World Premier of Alexei Kremnev’s Windy Sand.

In 1998, with the support of Oscar de la Renta, B Michael was granted membership in the distinguished, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). B Michael’s work has received critical acclaim and recognition of artistic and historical significance in the wider cultural sphere. 2025, B Michael and Mark-Anthony Edwards, husband, co-founder and CEO, of B Michael Global, gifted to the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, many of the iconic B Michael Couture garments, worn by the late Cicely Tyson, legendary actor and activist, for many of her most iconic occasions.
